About this shirt
This authentic Lilywhites home shirt features the clean, sharp template engineered by Puma for the late 2000s. The traditional bright white mesh base is highlighted by sleek navy blue underarm side panels, a distinct sharp V-neck collar, and subtle navy accent piping on the cuffs. The historic Tottenham Hotspur cockerel badge sits embroidered on the left chest, perfectly balanced by a tactile felt Puma logo on the right. Below, the famous Mansion.com Casino & Poker sponsor is beautifully applied across the center. On the reverse, the shirt features official, period-correct felt Premier League nameset lettering and numbering for the legendary Croatian playmaker Luka Modrić in his debut season at White Hart Lane.
The story behind the shirt
2008-09 in context
The 2008-09 season was a dramatic period of transition and ultimate resurgence at White Hart Lane. After a historic, agonizingly poor start to the Premier League campaign under Juande Ramos, the club appointed Harry Redknapp to steer the ship. Redknapp masterfully turned the season around, steering Spurs from the relegation zone to a highly respectable 8th-place finish and a deep run to the League Cup Final. Central to this resurgence was the arrival of the technical prodigy Luka Modrić from Dinamo Zagreb. Wearing the number 14 shirt, Modrić’s vision, quick-feet, and world-class distribution quickly won over the Spurs faithful, establishing him as the creative pulse of a team featuring the likes of Gareth Bale, Robbie Keane, and Jermain Defoe.
