Born from obsession

FC Classico was born from an unwavering passion for the game that has lived within me since the moment I could walk. Football is not a hobby; it is a life sentence. I have played the game, coached for more than 20 years and now lead the Men’s Football Scholarship Programme at the University of East London. My days are spent in the modern game, analysing tactics and developing elite athletes, but my heart has a permanent place reserved for the beautiful, bygone eras of football.

These are not simply vintage football shirts. They are time machines.

The golden eras of football style

I grew up when shorts were short, ponytails were divine and weekends meant recording Match of the Day, Sportsnight and Football Italia on blank VHS tapes. The 1980s, 1990s and early 2000s brought a poetry to football: maverick superstars, unforgettable kits and a culture that lived as much in the stands and streets as it did on the pitch. From Cantona’s collar-up moments and Arsenal’s Bruised Banana to Liverpool’s Candy and Tottenham’s Holsten, those shirts became landmarks. Today’s return to retro culture is bringing that honest, expressive style back into focus.

Curated with knowledge, handled with respect

I wanted to build a collection that feels personal but speaks to collectors everywhere. Every shirt is sourced, handled and documented with the care it deserves. I still feel the same rush when I find a rare piece that I felt as a child receiving a new kit from my parents. The difference now is that I can pass that nostalgia on to you—although, honestly, some days I still do not want to list a shirt for sale. FC Classico may be a new name, but the fire behind it has been burning for a lifetime.

The FC Classico authenticity promise

The vintage football shirt market is full of counterfeits, including remarkably convincing fakes. That is not what we do. We are committed to sourcing and selling strictly authentic items: genuine time capsules with the traces of the footballing lives they have witnessed. Every shirt spends time in my personal collection before it finds its new home, and every item is inspected before it can reach the catalogue.

Rigorous verification: inner product codes, wash-label typography, embroidery, applications and fabric stitching are checked against period references.
Zero compromise: shirts that fail inspection never touch the store. Two full bin bags of rejected shirts are proof of that standard.
Transparent records: when a detail cannot be verified, it is disclosed rather than guessed.
